our experience is your advantage
Andersen & Stender was founded in 1939 in the street of Classensgade in Østerbro, Copenhagen, Denmark by wholesalers Ib Andersen and Hugo Stender. They sold buttons for men’s ready-made clothing.
In 1956, they bought ‘Johan Lavendt’ in the city of Herning, Denmark, whereby the product range was extended to also including other kinds of accessories for the fashion and textile industry. The textile industry powered ahead in the areas around the cities of Herning and Ikast in the 1960s. That being so, the owners decided to merge the two businesses in a newly-built headquarters building in the street of Birkegårdsvej 5, Herning in 1969. The address of Andersen & Stender still remains the same.
Anker Jensen, an employee who relocated from Copenhagen, later bought the company which is now owned and run by his son, Jacob Ryssel.
Today, Andersen & Stender is represented throughout Scandinavia and offer a wide range of accessory items. Most of our business partners are global meaning the same item can be delivered on several continents.
The largest partners are Prym Fashion and Freudenberg. The latter of which is the world’s biggest manufacturer of interlinings and offer the best possibilities of the industry through their ‘International Sales and Costumer Relationship’ program.
